Gordon Head Roads and What to Expect

Gordon Head is a quiet residential neighbourhood in Saanich but do not let that fool you. The mix of tree lined streets, active school zones on Henderson and Feltham Roads, uncontrolled intersections and busy stretches along Shelbourne Street and Gordon Head Road give new drivers a well rounded experience before their road test.

Near Mount Douglas Park the roads are narrow and winding with frequent deer crossings. Seeing one deer near the treeline typically means more are close by. We teach you to read that environment and slow down before you need to brake hard.

Along McKenzie Avenue approaching the Driver Licensing office the speed zones change quickly and there are several intersections with specific right of way rules that catch students off guard. We cover every one of them well before your test day.

The UVic Ring Road is one of the busiest pedestrian and cycling environments in Victoria. Cyclists, pedestrians and transit buses share the road constantly and the sightlines can be short. We start UVic area lessons by building your 360 degree vision habits before we ever get near the Ring Road.

We pick up directly on campus. Most students meet us at the Student Union Building or Parking Lots 1, 4 and 5. If it is your very first lesson Lot 5 off Sinclair Road is quieter and gives us room to get comfortable before we head onto busier streets.

We also pick up students near Lambrick Park Secondary and Mount Doug Secondary. A lot of our students are new drivers who have just turned 16 and want to get their L as soon as possible. Just let us know your address when you book and we will come to you.

To book lessons with us you need a valid BC learner licence. If your home country does not have a reciprocal agreement with BC you will need to pass the knowledge test first to get your L licence.
